Following a 3-9 season in 2011, Coach Jerry Kill and his Minnesota Golden Gophers look to improve in Kill's second year at the helm.
Often times first year coaches and their teams struggle, and the Gophers of 2011 were no different. New coaches, systems, players - everyone was involved in the learning curve last year.
After a 2 point loss in their opener at USC, Minnesota struggles through their next 6 games: A home loss in their home opener to New Mexico State. In this game Coach Jerry Kill suffered a seizure late in the game. This would turn out to be a distraction for the next few weeks.
After a win hosting Miami, OH the Gophers were outscored 181 to 55 win four straight losses to North Dakota State, Michigan, Purdue, and Nebraska.
On a positive note Minnesota did make strides the last 5 games of the year with wins over Iowa and Illinois, and were 4-1 ATS during the last four games of the season.
